Peirce Mill

Out painting with colleagues from Washington Society of Landscape Painters, a 100 year old organization of only 40 members, I did this plein air painting of historic Peirce Mill, in Rock Creek Park in Washington, DC. I don’t usually paint buildings, and not straight-on when I do, but I loved the stone textures in the morning light, which are more visible in the painting than they are in this photo.
